Characterizing the dynamics of stochastic bistable

چکیده
The dynamics of noisy bistable systems is analyzed by means of Lyapunov exponents and measures of complexity. We consider both the classical Kramers problem with additive white noise and the case when the barrier uctuates due to additional external colored noise. In case of additive noise we calculate the Lyapunov exponents and all measures of complexity analytically as functions of the noise intensity resp. the mean escape time. For the problem of uctuating barrier the usual description of the dynamics with the mean escape time is not suucient. The application of the concept of measures of complexity allows to describe the structures of motion in more detail. Most complexity measures sign the value of correlation time at which the phenomenon of resonant activation occurs with an extremum.

Parallel replica dynamics method for bistable stochastic reaction networks: Simulation and sensitivity analysis.
Stochastic reaction networks that exhibit bistable behavior are common in systems biology, materials science, and catalysis. Sampling of stationary distributions is crucial for understanding and characterizing the long-time dynamics of bistable stochastic dynamical systems. However, simulations are often hindered by the insufficient sampling of rare transitions between the two metastable region...
متن کاملBistable Perception Modeled as Competing Stochastic Integrations at Two Levels
We propose a novel explanation for bistable perception, namely, the collective dynamics of multiple neural populations that are individually meta-stable. Distributed representations of sensory input and of perceptual state build gradually through noise-driven transitions in these populations, until the competition between alternative representations is resolved by a threshold mechanism. The per...
متن کاملWeak Force Measurement in Bistable Optomechanical System
One of the main milestones in the study of opto-mechanical system is to increase the sensitivity of weak forces measurement up to the standard quantum limit. We have studied the detection of weak force under a bistable condition in red detuned regime. In this case, dynamics of the system behaves asymptotically similar to stationary state and applying external force affects phase and fluctuation...
متن کاملNoise induced forced synchronization of global variables in coupled bistable systems
We analyze the noise induced synchronization between a collective variable characterizing a complex system with a finite number of interacting bistable units and time periodic driving forces. A random phase process associated to the collective stochastic variable is defined. Its average phase frequency and average phase diffusion are used to characterize the phenomenon. Our analysis is based on...
متن کاملStochastic resonance on paced genetic regulatory small-world networks: effects of asymmetric potentials
We study the phenomenon of stochastic resonance on small-world networks consisting of bistable genetic regulatory units, whereby the external subthreshold periodic forcing is introduced as a pacemaker trying to impose its rhythm on the whole network through the single unit to which it is introduced. Without the addition of additive spatiotemporal noise, however, the whole network remains foreve...
